Why it matters

A Kansas City, Missouri license is not one credential. A company that holds only Class III is licensed for communication, alarm, remote-control and low-voltage equipment, a scope that does not list panels, new circuits or service upgrades.

Security and alarm companies are a large share of Class III holders: 19 of 64 by name alone. For a home security or camera installation, Class III may be the relevant license; for line-voltage electrical work, look for Class I.

What this number can’t tell you

  • The keyword match reads names only (security or alarm: security, secure, alarm, alarms, CCTV; fire or safety: fire, safety). A company whose name does not say what it does is counted under “none of these words”, so both keyword counts are floors.
  • Class scope here is the city’s own summary; for a borderline job, the city decides which class applies.
  • Johnson County and other cities classify licenses differently and are not covered.

What to do with it

  • For a panel upgrade, EV charger or new circuits in Kansas City, Missouri, check that the company’s record shows a Class I license.
  • For alarm, camera or data wiring, ask which license class the company will work under, and confirm with the city if you are unsure.
