EDITORIAL STANDARDS

What we never publish.

The records, details and requests Electrician Benchmark keeps off the site, and why.

Every company record on this site is built from dated public sources. Some information in those sources stays out on purpose. These are standing rules, not case-by-case decisions.

People’s personal details

Licensing lists name individuals: supervising masters on the Kansas City, Missouri list and qualified individuals in the Johnson County file. We publish the company, its license number, class and status. We do not republish the names of individual license holders, home addresses or personal phone numbers.

Review text and reviewer names

Where a ranking uses a Google rating, we record the star rating, the review count and the date we looked. We do not copy review text or name reviewers, and ratings and review counts are left out of the downloadable data files.

Permit addresses

City permit data is published here only as counts: by company for the historical permit comparison, and by month, work class and ZIP code for market activity. Individual permit addresses are not listed.

A single missing registry entry as a verdict

License lists change, and public lists sometimes drop a record for a day. When a company we track disappears from a list in one observation, we hold it for a second check on a later day before it appears on that company’s record. A record we could not match is described as a research limit, never as a finding that a company is unlicensed.

Paid positions

The ranking formulas have no paid-placement input, and this edition contains no sponsored placements. A company cannot buy a rank, a badge or a better description.

Changes made because someone asked

Anyone can point out an error. A record changes only after the cited source is rechecked. A request for a better position, without new evidence, does not change a record. Rankings change only in a new edition.

Unsourced claims about a company

We do not publish complaints, allegations or characterizations that are not tied to a dated source. Statements a company makes about itself are labeled as company statements.
