Why it matters
With one renewal date, every Independence license is up for renewal at the same time each year. A quote signed in December for work in January is the case to check: confirm the license holder has renewed before the permit is pulled.
What this number can’t tell you
- The data shows active licenses only, so it cannot show how many licenses lapse at year end.
- The city updated the dataset on Oct 12, 2026; a renewal entered after that date is not reflected.
- An expiry date says nothing about complaints, insurance or workmanship.
What to do with it
- For an Independence job that starts in January or later, ask the contractor to confirm the license renewal for the new year.
- Check the line on the Independence page for the business before you sign.
