Why it matters

A service list tells you whether a company expects your kind of job. The license tells you whether it can pull the permit at your address. On this data the two do not travel together, so a broad menu is not a substitute for checking the record that applies to your side of the state line.

What this number can’t tell you

  • Tags record what a company says on its own pages, not verified delivery, crew size or current availability.
  • A company may do work it does not list, or list work it subcontracts.
  • “Licensed on both sides” uses the edition-date records only; Kansas City, Kansas and other cities license separately.

What to do with it

  • Shortlist by the service you need, then check the license for your project address before you call.
  • For generator or rewiring jobs, ask who pulls the permit and who handles the inspection.
